Green Moldavite - This is the most rare mineral on earth. It is a type of tektite. It is more rare than diamonds, gold or platinum. This piece is 23 carats. These are sometimes cut into gemstones for jewelry. A cut specimin of this weight would be worth a couple thousand dollars.
Large Tektite Pic 2- This is a tektite from China. Tektites are glass from space. This is a pretty big piece and it is also rare because of the tear drop shape from falling through our atmosphere in liquid form thousands of years ago.
Northwest Africa 518 - Eastern Morocco, Found 2000, L6 Chrondrite. 40 small stones were found by Berber Nomads somewhere in Eastern Morocoo. The total weight was 3.5 kilos. This stone meteorite was classified by UCLA as an L6 Chrondrite with a shock stage of 3 and a weathering grade of 2. NWA 518 is a nice example of a freshly found desert meteorite. Specimen weight is 47.8 grams.
Canyon Diablo Pic 2 Pic 3 - Coconino County, AZ. Found in 1891. Iron, Octahedrite, coarse (IA). Total known weight is 30,000 kilograms.
Nantan Pic 2- This is from Guangxi, Yaozhai, China. It was found in 1958. This meteorite landed on earth in the 1500's. The people in China thought it was a great dragon breathing fire from the sky. It is an Iron Octahedrite, medium (IIIC). The total known weight is 9,500 kilograms.
Canyon Diablo Shale - Meteorite Shale from Canyon Diablo, AZ. First found in 1890's. Specimen weight 2.59 grams.
Sikhote-Alin - This is from Maritime Territory, Russia. It fell February 12, 1947 at 1038 hours. It is an iron octahedrite, coarsest (IIB). Total known weight is 23,000 kilograms.
Zag Pic 2 - Western Sahara, fell August 4 or 5, 1998. H3-6 regolith Breccia. A meteorite fall was witnessed on a mountain in the vicinity of Zag, Morocco. This stone metorite has been found to contain salt crystals with water depostis inside these crystals. Zag is classified as an H3-6 regolith breccia. Specimen weight is 19.3 grams.
Zagami - This piece was found in Nigeria in 1962. It is an actual piece of the surface of Mars.
